Portable generators can be better than a whole home generator.

This unit started on the first attempt. Loud but not as loud as I thought it would be. Because I have gas heat and gas water heaters, this unit will handle the whole house. My electrician spent about 2 hours installing the plug in for the 50 amp cord.
Very happy with the result. Will by a custom tent to allow running in bad weather.

High quality product and does the job that I need it to. Assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired.

I got this to power a good bit of a my house. The shipping time takes forever. It comes with just about everything you need, including a replacement air and oil filter. It arrived at my house and took some assembly to get it fully together but I ran it the other day and it works as expected. Looking forward to see how it holds up during the next power outage here.

    Generac GP17500E

I received the unit after a short lead time. I had a GP6500 which served me well in my old house and current house. I then upgraded to a generac XT8000e which I really did not like.... Finally dropped the bullet and bought this bad boy. Be aware you only get 12,000 Watts MAX out of the 50 amp plug at 220V. The 17,500 rated output is using multiple circuits to multiple loads. No idea why generac did not make the 50 amp breaker a 60 amp breaker as there are 60 amp plugs and receptacles readily available on the market, this would have put out over 14,000 watts. In any even I am able to power 2 refrigerators, a electric dryer, a 3.5 ton central air handler, 24,000 btu wall a/c unit, lights, oil fired boiler and a 3/4hp well pump... all on the 50 amp plug. Used a reliance watt meter as well and I totaled out at about 13,500 watts (not sure of meter accuracy). Overall the unit did not bog down with that load on it all at the same time. Overall very happy. Assembly instructions could have been blown up onto one page to better illustrate the assembly. I got mine with inflatable tires, was a little surprised about that,,,, Unit is heavy but balances decently on the wheels. I hope generac offers an upgrade or retrofit kit for that one breaker and plug, or upsizes it themselves. make no doubt about it, this is a very capable home backup unit. The GP series is simple but a workhorse

Great Company, Great Service, Great Generator

Posted by Robert on 18th Sep 2020

I decided to buy my Generac generator from nationwide generators because when I saw the website I knew they weren’t just selling a box. I already knew what I wanted, but was able to speak with their staff who was helpful and knowledgeable to help answer some questions I had. It would’ve been much easier for me to buy this generator at any one of my local supply houses are big box store around me, but nationwide offered experience and expertise I couldn’t find anywhere else. I highly recommend them and the knowledge that they have on the products they service and sell. Thank you

    product is good, service lacking

I purchased this generator based on a commitment from a salesman to deliver the generator on a 5 day schedule. This was important as the generator is replacing another that is used every day for construction work, and without it we were handicapped. There were a dozen vendors I could have purchased from who could have delivered within two weeks. Some of them were 5-10% cheaper and still had free shipping, but Nationwide generator committed to 5 business days. 3 business days after the order was placed, I got a call requesting confirmation of shipping address, and on day 5 I got tracking information. The generator arrived on day 9, after spending 3 days hopping from dock to dock within 50 miles of the dropoff location. Upon arrival the generator is a better unit than the previous unit of the same model number I had purchased, and works pretty well. It does not actually have the gumption to produce 26000 starting watts, but I knew that was a fairy tale after owning two previous units of the same model. It does produce 10KW steady state load for 8 hours at a time without any problems, but It will choke if you have a 12KW load on it and then try to start a 5hp motor.

    Fantastic!

I'll start by saying I know nothing about generators and only recently began researching them when I moved to a rural area where we lose power often due to the trees. We're a low priority for the electric company, so I wanted to be sure we would be able to use our well, heat, and so on in the event of an extended power outage.

I finally decided on this unit, and was a bit apprehensive when it arrived and I realized I needed to do some assembly, but it turned out to be really simple stuff and I finished it in about a half an hour. The unit is running for the first time out back, and seems to work well. We haven't connected it to the house yet, but I'm sure we will as fall encroaches -- we did lose power for a few minutes last night due to the wind, so I know it's coming.

I was really impressed with Nationwide Generators. The site gave me an estimate of when the generator would be available again, but Phil called to offer another generator they had in stock if I didn't want to wait. I opted to wait, but appreciated having the option. I got a call about a week later saying the generator had shipped, and then a call a couple of days later from the delivery company saying they could deliver it at my convenience as soon as the next day! From start to finish it was an excellent customer experience.

The generator is great. I wasn't sure what to expect as far as noise and so on, but it's not even as loud as my lawn tractor. I'm in at my desk typing this review and I can't even hear it running out back. I don't think it will be a problem even under a full load, but I guess that depends on where you put it. I really liked that Generac packed it so well and included extra parts, including an extra air filter, oil filter, and spark plugs! Again, they made it a great experience getting my generator up and running.

I hope I'll enjoy this generator for years to come.
